Home Refresh: Laundry Hacks

Let's not sugar coat it - laundry day isn't exactly the most exciting activity for most people. It's one of those adulting things that just has to be done. But what if it could save you time and money? Would laundry day be sexy then?

Home Refresh: Laundry Hacks

Here are our top 5 laundry products & hacks to make this part of adulting worth it:

  1. You Old Softie
  2. So Fluffy!
  3. Old Faithful
  4. Steamy Saturday
  5. 2-in-1

You Old Softie

If you're looking to increase the longevity of your clothes and return them to their softer-newly-purchased-glory, this is the best $15 you'll ever spend! A de-piller, or fabric shaver, removes the pills that form on your comfiest sweaters and sweats. Not only will they look newer, but they feel better too!

Conair Battery Operated Fabric Defuzzer - $14.96 at Walmart

So Fluffy!

Did your parents ever throw clean shoes in the dryer with your down jacket or duvet? Dryer balls are the modern version and they help to fluff your down jacket, duvet or pillows exactly the same way your parents used to, only they're a little less...clunky.

BONUS: They also remove wrinkles and static!

Old Faithful

I swear by this bar of stain-remover - she's my old faithful! Not only will it last you a very long time (mine are going on 2 years strong), but it gets out the toughest stains too. From grass to blood stains, this little guy is my secret weapon for keeping our laundry looking fresh.

You can find Sunlight Soap Bars for $3 at most grocery stores

Steamy Saturday

This is one of the best purchases I have ever made! Out of all of the hosting skills, ironing has never been my forte. That's why when I need to get the wrinkles out of my husband's dress shirts, I opt for a steamer instead. While it doesn't create the same crisp lines an iron would, it's definitely faster and frustration-free!

I even used this handheld steamer on my wedding dress!

Tip: While some essential oil reps may tell you to add a drop or two of essential oil to the water in your steamer, as Simon Cowell's would say, it's a no from me. Not only does essential oil not evenly distribute in water (read: stain alert), but it can also clog up your device over time.

Extreme Steam by Conair Handheld Fabric Garment Clothing Steamer - $39.88 at Walmart

If you have an outfit that's mildly wrinkled and you don't have time to whip out your handheld steamer, just hang it from your towel bar as you shower. The steam should loosen up those wrinkles AND save you time!
